In October 2008, GTL Energy commenced construction of its first commercial scale demonstration plant near South Heart, North Dakota.

In June 2009, GTL Energy received an Air Permit for the GTLE Dakota Plant from the North Dakota Department of Health and receipt of that permit completed the required permits for the GTLE Dakota Plant to begin operations.

Taggart Global LLC (“Taggart”) has provided all engineering and construction management services.  Hazen Research Inc (“Hazen”) has provided process engineering, commissioning and start-up services and will continue to assist GTL Energy with staffing operations.

Construction of the GTLE Dakota Plant has been completed and is now in the commissioning phase.  The completion and commissioning of the GTLE Dakota Plant is a significant milestone for GTL Energy.  It will enable customers to see the GTLE process operate at scale, as well allow bulk processing of the customers own coal to show the handling and stockpiling characteristics of the end product.  Importantly, it will also enable GTL Energy to provide the necessary process guarantees and warranties to support licence agreements.
